Thanks for the support guys.

Home Is Wherever Im With You

Many of you may have heard this song before, but it was just recommended to me by a friend.

Now I am a sucker for love songs. Both old and new. The Carpenters will always stand out in my point of view when it comes to love songs. Nowadays, the only love songs you get are trashy R&B songs making you feel sympathy for the singer, but when I stumbled across this, it brought a smile to my face.

This song is about two people deeply in love and nothing can break them apart. It isn't about that guy who couldn't win the girl over, or the guy who lost his girl to a superior specimen, this song is simply about two people who only see each other in their eyes. This my friends, is true love.

If any of you have that special someone out there, whether they know it or not, this song will hit you hard but not in a despairing way. It'll put a smile on your face and give you that feeling that somewhere out on the horizon, is a glimmer of hope coming your way.

Airbrushed

Anamanaguchi although hard to pronounce, is an emerging chiptune band from New York City. This genre doesn't receive much hype as it is still generally unknown. What is chiptune? Chiptune uses synthesizers to make music resembling that of a video game from the NES era. Anamanaguchi has their artwork done by Paul Robertson giving it that extra flare and making it stand out just that much more.

What sets Anamanaguchi apart is that they actually use a hacked NES and a hacked Gameboy to make their tunes. Also, they incorporate live guitar, bass and drums to perk up the song that extra bit.

Being video game driven, it is only appropriate that they were asked to make the soundtrack to the Scott Pilgrim Video Game, and it is just as catchy as any of their other work. This song entitled Airbrushed is a single, and probably their best work yet. I found this song a couple of days ago and have listened to it non stop since. It is vibrant and fast and will put a jump in your step no matter what situation you are in.

Give it a listen and make those worries go away. Enjoy.

Grizzly BEAR

Taking the Music Blog Zeitgeist #2 spot for Best Album, Grizzly Bear's Veckatimest deserves nothing less.

I am sure most of you have heard the hit single from Veckatimest called Two Weeks. The song is a mellifluous piece of art that isn't meant for rocking out, it is simply for listening. It'll stop you in your tracks and take control of your ears and mind.

You see, many of us don't take the time to JUST listen to music. We often multi-task while enjoying our favorite records but we never JUST enjoy our favorite records and it's something I believe we should do more of. Music is the key to our soul and we have to embrace that and incorporate into our lives.

So set aside a couple of minutes each day to simply listen to music and squeeze every melody, beat and rhythm out of it. If you have 53 minutes to spare, Veckatimest will not disappoint you on this journey, if you decide to take it.

Enjoy.

Isak

If you guy's haven't heard of Baroness, I don't know what rock you've live been living under but here they are with one of their best songs off of their 'Red Album' called 'Isak'.

The drumming is impeccable as are the guitar riffs. If you are a musician yourself, you will appreciate the simple yet different beat of the drums and the hypnotizing guitar riffs that will leave you wanting more.

Finally...the album artwork. The lead singer John Dyer Baizley actually does the artwork himself and boy is it ever vibrant. They say to never judge a book by its cover (in this case album), but you sure can with this album and it's beautiful artwork...not to mention their 'Blue Album' and their other two EP's.

Basically, if you're a fan of metal, prog metal, etc. you have to check out of Baroness...and be prepared to fall in love.

Swim

The first time I heard a song from this album...I was amazed. It was 'Hannibal' and although I stick to my initial statement that it could have been made better, it is still one helluva song. One helluva album at that.

Whether you're a Caribou fan or not, you're gonna like most of the songs on the new album 'Swim'. Check it out.

Hans Zimmer - Time

Sorry it's been a couple of days since I posted anything new but here it is.

Now I found this yesterday and had no idea it was from Inception as I have not seen that movie yet. But listening to this song was something else...I had a few pre-sleep tokes and just decided to cruise the internet. I did a little scavenging for new music on hypemachine and stumbled upon this beautiful song.

Funkadelic's Maggot Brain electronica counter-part is what I like to think of it as. It's not something I'd listen to while beamin' down the HWY on a sunny day, but for those nights I find myself on the park bench at 3 am, alone, having a cigarette...this would be my choice.

Rap Essentials

Now I'm not a big fan of rap but I did grow up in the 90's which is undoubtedly the best era for rap and hip-hop alike, so I do have to pay respect to the oldies that made it big and are what I consider essentials to anyone who likes music at all because whether you're a metalhead, indie hipster, mainstream lover, psychedelic toker...it's always nice to roll out in your caddy with the bass rumbling.

Let's get this list started.

5. Onyx

Onyx is a more unknown rap group but most everyone know's that you don't have to be super mainstream in the rap game. Onyx's rap doesn't talk about fancy cars and caviar, it's about the hood life they led and what they dealt with. For the one's who like hardcore rap along the lines of Wu-Tang and Necro.

Notable songs: Purse Snatchaz, Slam

4.Tupac.

Everyone has to pay respects to one of the greatest rappers ever who actually went through the shit he rapped about unlike today's Drake and so on who were born silver spoon in hand.

Notable songs: Changes, Hail Mary, Dear Mama, Runnin'

3. Wu-Tang Clan

Not for the faint of heart. Probably one of the heaviest rap groups  around but nonetheless, one of the best ever. Even a fighting video game for the PSX was released based on Wu-Tang with some of their beats as the soundtrack...Surprisingly, it worked quite well.

Notable songs: Killah Beez, Bring Da Ruckus, Cocaine

2. Jay-Z

Some people might agree with this but for the wrong reason. A lot of people enjoy the newer Jay-Z but ever since 99 Problems, he's just been going downhill, IMO. Jay-Z lovers don't start hatin', as I do respect him for starting a business tycoon and netting Beyonce. But for me, the old Jay-Z is a lot better, when it was a 'Hard Knock Life' for the rapper.

Notable songs: Hard Knock Life, Can I getta, 99 Problems

1. Snoop Dogg & Dr.Dre

I chose these two together because I don't necessarily enjoy them alone but for me, their collabs including Gin & Juice and Still D.R.E. are the greatest rap songs. Chill, mellow but still has the hardcore thump. Obviously they both have individual talent but when they come together, watch outtt! That shit is explosive. Looking forward to another good collaboration.

Notable songs: Still D.R.E, Gin & Juice, The Next Episode

The Octopus Project

Just found these guys and I gotta say I'm quite impressed.
The Song is called Truck by The Octopus Project, an 'indietronica' band, off their album Hello Avalanche.
Enjoi.

UH SPAGEETTTT

Tim & Eric on adultswim. Watch it. You'll like it ;)

New Album by Chilly Gonzales

Canadian pianist, songwriter and producer of Feist, Peaches and Tiga, Jason Beck (Chilly Gonzales) has come out with a new album called Ivory Tower. Much like his previous albums the album has a mellow feel to it, but it'll leave you feeling exuberant.

Check out some of the singles on his myspace

Sit back, relax and watch Jason Beck make love to the piano.

Intense love making...

the cousin of hypemachine

Someday I hope to be as cool as this.
